Borax, also known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, is an important boron compound, a mineral, and a salt of boric acid. It is usually a white powder consisting of soft colorless crystals that dissolve easily in water.

The BORAX Experiments were boiling water reactor experiments conducted by Argonne National Laboratory in the 1950's and 1960's at the National Reactor Testing Station in eastern Idaho. They were performed using the five BORAX reactors that were designed and built by Argonne.

Borax, auch als Tinkal, Natriumborat oder unter seiner chemischen Bezeichnung Dinatriumtetraborat-Decahydrat  bekannt, ist ein eher selten vorkommendes Borat-Mineral aus der Mineralklasse der Gruppenborate. Es kristallisiert im monoklinen Kristallsystem mit der chemischen Formel Na₂[B₄O₅(OH)₄] · 8 H₂O  oder Na₂B₄O₇ · 10 H₂O bzw. Na₂O · 2 B₂O₃ · 10 H₂O  und entwickelt meist kurze, prismatische oder tafelige Kristalle, aber auch erdige, körnige oder massige Aggregate von meist weißer oder grauer Farbe. Gelegentlich ist es auch farblos.

Le borax (Na₂B₄O₇·10H₂O) est un minerai de bore appelé aussi tétraborate de sodium ou borate de sodium.

Borax, dinatriumtetraborat, är ett färglöst mineral, som förekommer i två former; Dels dekahydrat med bara bundet kristallvatten, dels oktahydrat där en del av kristallvattnet har reagerat med mineralet och bildat hydroxid.
