Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon is one of the sacred texts of the Latter Day Saint movement. It is regarded by Latter Day Saints as divinely revealed and is named after the prophet–historian Mormon who, according to the text, compiled most of the book. It was published by the founder of the LDS movement, Joseph Smith, Jr., in March 1830 in Palmyra, New York, USA. Its purpose, as stated on its title page, "is to show the remnant of the House of Israel what great things the Lord has done for their fathers" and to convince "Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself to all nations."

Le Livre de Mormon, un autre témoignage de Jésus-Christ, est l'un des ouvrages canoniques de l'Église de Jésus-Christ des saints des derniers jours, ainsi que d'autres mouvements issus du mormonisme. Il tire son nom de Mormon, prophète qui, selon le Livre de Mormon, aurait vécu de 311 à 385 ap. J.-C. sur le continent américain.

Das Buch Mormon (englisch: The Book of Mormon) ist eine religiöse Schrift der nach diesem Buch benannten religiösen Gemeinschaften der Mormonen. Die vom traditionellen Christentum nicht geteilte Anerkennung dieses Werkes als Heilige Schrift gilt als wesentliches gemeinsames Kennzeichen der ansonsten recht unterschiedlichen Kirchen. Der Name geht auf den Propheten Mormon zurück, der als Hauptredakteur des Berichtes aufscheint. Mit der Erstveröffentlichung des Buches begann das öffentliche Wirken des Kirchengründers Joseph Smith.

Księga Mormona jest uznawana przez Kościół Jezusa Chrystusa Świętych w Dniach Ostatnich, Społeczność Chrystusa i inne kościoły z ruchu Świętych w Dniach Ostatnich, za jeszcze jedno świadectwo o Jezusie Chrystusie i dla wyznawców tych kościołów stanowi jedno (obok Biblii) z podstawowych pism świętych (pierwsze wydanie - marzec 1830, Palmyra, USA). Zdaniem tych wspólnot jest tłumaczeniem z języka reformowanego egipskiego dokonanym przez Józefa Smitha na podstawie starożytnych płyt, otrzymanych od proroka Moroniego. Opublikowano ją dotychczas w ponad 93 językach. Wydawana w największej liczbie egzemplarzy przez Kościół Jezusa Chrystusa Świętych w Dniach Ostatnich pod rozszerzonym tytułem: Księga Mormona - Jeszcze Jedno Świadectwo o Jezusie Chrystusie.

Il libro di Mormon è uno dei principali testi sacri delle confessioni mormone, considerato dai mormoni un libro rivelato; prende il nome da Mormon, uno storico-profeta che, secondo il testo stesso, lo avrebbe trascritto in gran parte. Il libro fu pubblicato per la volta dal fondatore del mormonismo, Joseph Smith a Palmyra (Stati Uniti d'America) nel marzo 1830.
