Bonaire

Bonaire is an island in the Netherlands Antilles, and as such, is a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Together with Aruba and Curaçao it forms a group referred to as the ABC islands of the Leeward Antilles, the southern island chain of the Lesser Antilles. While Papiamentu, Spanish, and English are commonly spoken, the official language is Dutch.

Touristisch attraktiv wird das Taucherparadies Bonaire durch die Unterwasserwelt.Die Gesamtfläche beträgt 288 km², die Bevölkerungszahl etwa 15.000. Inselhauptstadt ist Kralendijk, die Verwaltungshauptstadt der Niederländischen Antillen ist Willemstad auf der Insel Curaçao. Die älteste Siedlung auf Bonaire ist Rincon.

Bonaire (czyt. Bone:r) - wyspa na Morzu Karaibskim u wybrzeży Wenezueli, wchodząca w skład Antyli Holenderskich. Razem z wyspami Arubą i Curaçao tworzą grupę wysp ABC.Na podstawie reformy konstytucyjnej Królestwa Niderlandów, 15 grudnia 2008 roku Antyle Holenderskie przestaną istnieć, a Bonaire stanie się częścią Holandii jako "gmina zamorska" i jednocześnie zostanie włączony do Unii Europejskiej.Powierzchnia Bonaire wynosi 288 km². W 2001 roku wyspę zamiekszkiwało 10 791 osób, a gęstość zaludnienia wyniosła 37 os./km². Po spisie ludności w 2004 roku, ludność zmalała do 10 185 osób, a gęstość zaludnienia wyniosła 35,3 os./km².
