Boeotia

Boeotia, Beotia, or Bœotia (Greek: Βοιωτία - English ) was a region of ancient Greece, north of the eastern part of the Gulf of Corinth. It was bounded on the south by Attica and Megaris, on the north by Opuntian Locris and the Euripus Strait at the Gulf of Euboea, and on the west by Phocis.  Lake Copais was a large lake in the center of Boeotia.

La Béotie (en grec , ancien Boiotía, moderne Viotía) est une région de Grèce centrale. Elle est bordée par l'Attique au Sud-Est, par le golfe d'Eubée à l'Est, par la Phthiotide au Nord, par la Phocide à l'Ouest et par le golfe de Corinthe au Sud. La capitale moderne est Livadiá, mot qui signifie prairie, pâturage, une réalité économique emblématique de la région. La capitale antique était Thèbes (actuelle Thiva).

Böotien , ist die in der Antike nach den dortigen Rinderweiden ( bous, „Rind“) benannte Landschaft, in der griechische Volksstamm der Boioter (Böotier) siedelte. Heute ist Böotien eine Präfektur in der griechischen Verwaltungsregion Mittelgriechenland.

Beocja (gr. Βοιωτία, łac. Beotia) to kraina historyczna w środkowej starożytnej Grecji między Zatoką Koryncką a cieśninami Eubejską i Ewripos. Obecnie Beocja (Viotia) jest prefekturą w Republice Greckiej w regionie administracyjnym Grecja Środkowa, ze stolicą w Liwadii. Graniczy z prefekturami: Attyka Zachodnia i Attyka Wschodnia (region Attyka) oraz Fokida i Fthiotyda (Grecja Centralna). Powierzchnia prefektury Beocja wynosi 2952 km², zamieszkuje ją około 130,7 tys. ludzi (stan z 2005 roku).

La Beozia è il nome di una regione storica dell'antica Grecia che oggi costituisce una prefettura appartenente alla regione amministrativa della Grecia Centrale La prefettura ha una superficie di 3.211 km² e 131.129 abitanti secondo il censimento del 2001.La regione confina ad ovest con la Focide, a nord con la Ftiotide, a sud con il golfo di Corinto e ad est con il mar Egeo.Le principali risorse economiche sono legate all'agricoltura e all'allevamento. Importante anche l'estrazione di marmo.
