Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is a feature of Bluetooth 4.0 wireless radio technology, aimed at new, principally low-power and low-latency, applications for wireless devices within a short range (up to -see table below). This facilitates a wide range of applications and smaller form factor devices in the healthcare, fitness, security and home entertainment industries.

Bluetooth low energy (angekündigt Juni 2007 als Bluetooth ultra low power, ehemals Wibree, gestartet von Nokia 2001) ist eine drahtlose Funktechnik, mit der sich Geräte in einem unmittelbaren Einzugsbereich vernetzen lassen. Seit Dezember 2009 ergänzt diese Erweiterung den Industriestandard Bluetooth.
