Blues

Blues is a vocal and instrumental form of music based on the use of the blue notes and a repetitive pattern that most often follows a twelve-bar structure. It emerged in African-American communities of the United States from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed English and Scots-Irish narrative ballads. The use of blue notes and the prominence of call-and-response patterns in the music and lyrics are indicative of African influence. The blues influenced later American and Western popular music, as it became part of the genres of jazz, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, hip-hop, and pop songs.

Le blues est une forme musicale vocale et instrumentale, dérivée des chants de travail et des gospels des populations afro-américaines. C'est un style où le (la) chanteur(euse) exprime sa tristesse et ses coups durs (d'où l'expression « avoir le blues »). Le blues a eu une influence majeure sur la musique populaire américaine, puisque l'on en retrouve des traces dans le jazz, le rhythm and blues, le rock and roll, le hard rock, la musique country, la soul, les musiques pop ou de variété et même la musique classique.

Blues ist eine vokale und instrumentale Musikform, die sich in der afroamerikanischen Gesellschaft in den USA Ende des 19., Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts entwickelt hat. Der Blues bildet die Wurzel eines Großteils der populären nordamerikanischen Musik. Jazz, Rock und Soul sind eng mit dem Blues verwandt. Selbst in aktuellen Stilrichtungen wie Hip-Hop ist ein Nachhall des Blues zu spüren. Das Wort Blues leitet sich von der bildhaften englischen Beschreibung I’ve got the blues (wörtlich: ich habe die "Blauen") bzw. I feel blue (ich bin traurig) ab.

Blues (ang. smutek, rozpacz) – gatunek muzyczny wywodzący się ze śpiewów Murzynów amerykańskich z południa USA, z pewnymi wpływami muzyki folk. Tematyka bluesa częstokroć skupia się wokół realistycznie ujętych relacji damsko-męskich (miłość, zazdrość, wierność, samotność). Niejednokrotnie poruszane są wątki podróży, pracy zarobkowej, wolności. W bluesowych tekstach obecny jest też krytyczny akcent społeczny, od nierówności rasowej po kwestie polityczne.

Il blues è una forma musicale vocale e strumentale la cui forma originale é caratterizzata da una struttura ripetitiva di dodici battute e dall'uso, nella melodia, delle cosiddette blue note.Le radici del blues sono da ricercare tra i canti delle comunità di schiavi afroamericani nelle piantagioni degli stati meridionali degli USA (la cosiddetta Cotton Belt). La struttura antifonale (di chiamata e risposta) e l'uso delle blue note (un intervallo di quinta diminuita che l'armonia classica considera dissonante e che in Italia valse al blues il nomignolo di musica stonata) apparentano il blues alle forme musicali dell'Africa occidentale.
