Black Metal

Black metal is an extreme heavy metal subgenre. It is typically characterized by the use of heavily-distorted guitars, high-pitched shrieking vocals, fast-paced rhythms and melodies, and unconventional song structures.The first bands to pioneer the style were mostly thrash metal bands that formed the prototype for black metal; they are referred to collectively as the First Wave, and consist of a few bands, such as Venom and Bathory. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, a Second Wave emerged in Norway, including prominent bands like Mayhem and Darkthrone. Although there is no well-defined Third Wave, modern black metal bands have incorporated new musical and lyrical trends into their music.

Black Metal ist eine Subkultur des Metal, welche Ende der 1980er in Norwegen und Schweden entstand und sich rasch in Nord- und Mitteleuropa ausbreitete.Der schwer zu begrenzende Begriff wird für Bands verwendet, deren Image, Auftreten und Texte eine Verbindung satanischer, heidnischer oder misanthropischer Elemente aufweisen. Allerdings gibt es auch andere Definitionen, zum Beispiel allein über die Musik. Der Gesang ist in der Regel eine Art Gekrächze oder Geschrei, während das Gitarrenspiel sich durch überwiegend monotone Riffs auszeichnet. Am Schlagzeug dominieren Doublebass und Blastbeats. Vereinzelt werden auch Keyboards zum Aufbau eher orchestraler Momente verwendet.

Il black metal è un sottogenere estremo dell'heavy metal, originatosi in Scandinavia nella seconda metà degli anni '80. Prevalentemente underground, il black metal è, comunque, diffuso in Europa, soprattutto in paesi scandinavi come Norvegia e Svezia. Il genere è anche conosciuto per le sue tematiche discusse come satanismo, nichilismo, anti-cristianesimo e (in minor parte) nazismo, oltre che per i fatti di cronaca che vedono protagonisti i suoi componenti, come omicidi, suicidi e vandalismi contro luoghi cristiani. Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost e Mercyful Fate sono stati i maggiori ispiratori del black metal.
