Bipolar jets

A phenomenon in which narrow streams of gas are ejected at very high speed in opposite directions from the centers of some disks of gas, perpendicular to the disk; bipolar jetting is seen both in accretion disks around individual stars and in galactic disks. The mechanism is uncertain.
