human-powered vehicle with two
wheels attached to a

Bicyclette
Une bicyclette, aussi appelée un vélo en langage familier, est un
véhicule terrestre composé de deux
roues alignées — d'où elle tire son nom. La force motrice est fournie par son conducteur
humain (le cycliste) en position assise ou couchée, parfois debout, par l'intermédiaire de
pédales faisant office de paliers de
vilebrequin. La bicyclette est l'un des principaux moyens de
transport dans de nombreuses parties du monde. Sa pratique, le
cyclisme, constitue à la fois un usage quotidien, un
loisir populaire et un
sport.

Fahrrad
Ein Fahrrad, kurz auch Rad, in der Schweiz Velo (v.
frz.: vélocipède = „Schnellfuß“,
lat.: velox = schnell und pes = Fuß, veraltet und scherzhaft auch
Drahtesel), ist ein zumeist zweirädriges,
einspuriges Landfahrzeug, das mit
Muskelkraft durch das Treten von
Pedalen angetrieben wird. Es wird bei höherem Tempo durch stabilisierende Kreiselkräfte der Räder sowie Gewichtsverlagerung und Lenkbewegungen des Fahrers im Gleichgewicht gehalten (siehe auch
