Bethlehem ( or , lit "House of Flesh"; , Modern: , , lit "House of Bread;" , Vithleém) is a Palestinian city located in the central West Bank and approximately south of Jerusalem, with a population of about 30,000 people. It is the capital of the Bethlehem Governorate of the Palestinian National Authority and a hub of Palestinian culture and tourism. The Hebrew Bible identifies Bethlehem as the city David was from and the location where he was crowned as the king of Israel. The New Testament identifies Bethlehem as the birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth. The town is inhabited by one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, although the size of the community has shrunk due to emigration.

Betlehem (auch Bethlehem, Efrata; ; hebräisch בית לחם, Bet Lechem) ist eine Stadt im Westjordanland mit 29.930 Einwohnern. Die Stadt gehört zu den Palästinensischen Autonomiegebieten und grenzt im Norden an Jerusalem. Sie beheimatet zwei Universitäten. Zur Agglomeration Betlehem gehören auch Beit Dschala und Beit Sahur; letzterer Ort hat wie Betlehem biblische Bedeutung. Bürgermeister der Stadt Betlehem ist seit Mai 2005 der römisch-katholische Christ und pensionierte Arzt Victor Batarseh. Für die 2,1 Mrd. Christen ist die Stadt von besonderer Bedeutung, weil sie der Überlieferung nach als der Geburtsort von Jesus Christus gilt.

Bethléem (en arabe  بيت لحم bayt lahm « maison de la viande », en hébreu בית לחם bet lechem, « maison du pain ») est une ville de Palestine, située environ 10km au sud de Jérusalem, qui compte 25 000 habitants (2000), de confessions chrétienne et musulmane. Depuis 1996, aux termes des accords d'Oslo, la ville est sous administration de l'Autorité palestinienne. Durant la seconde Intifada, elle a beaucoup souffert des bouclages et des incursions militaires israéliennes. Elle est aujourd'hui partiellement entourée d'un mur construit par les Israéliens, rendant tout accès à la ville (ou départ de celle-ci) soumis à l'approbation de l'armée israélienne ainsi qu'à un contrôle rigoureux. Ceci rend les conditions de vie des habitants précaires, et le chômage dépasse les 40 %. Toutefois, on y rencontre une population parlant anglais, et même le français pour beaucoup.

Betlehem (arabiska بيت لحم 'kötthus', arameiska/syriska Bet hus och lehem bröd ("brödhus"), hebreiska בית לחם 'brödhus') är en stad på nuvarande Västbanken, omkring en mil söder om Jerusalem och belägen 765 meter över havet. Den är huvudstad i distriktet Betlehem. Betlehems stadsområde innefattar också de små orterna Beit Jala och Beit Sahour.
