Belenus

In Celtic mythology, Belenus (also Belinus, Belenos, Belinos, Belinu, Bellinus, Belus, Bel) was a deity worshipped in Gaul, Britain and Celtic areas of Italy, Austria and northern Spain. He had shrines from Aquileia on the Adriatic to Kirkby Lonsdale in England. His name means "shining one" or "henbane god" and he is associated with heat and healing. He may be the same deity as Belatu-Cadros. In the Roman period he was identified with Apollo. His consort was Belisama. His name has been found on around fifty inscriptions. These are mainly concentrated in Aquileia and Cisalpine Gaul, but also extend into Gallia Narbonensis, Noricum, and far beyond.

Belenus (Auch Belenos oder Belos, "der Scheinende, Helle, Glänzende") ist ein keltischer Gott des Lichts. Er wurde über Norditalien, Süd-Gallien bis Britannien verehrt.Belenus wurde mit dem griechischen Apollon gleichgesetzt und war vor allem ein Gott der Heilung und der Quellheiligtümer. Eine wahrscheinliche Partnerin oder weibliche Entsprechung des Belenos war die Feuergöttin Belisama.Belenus wurde und wird mit zahlreichen anderen Gottheiten verglichen und in direkte Verbindung gebracht, so mit dem nordischen Gott Balder und den kymrischen und irischen Sagengestalten Beli Mawr und Bile. Auch ein weniger bekannter südgermanischer Gott namens Biel wird neuerdings glaubwürdig mit dem keltischen Belenus in Verbindung gebracht. Mit Ausnahme des irischen Bile (dessen Name sich von keltisch Bilio "heiliger Baum" ableitet) bedeuten die Namen all dieser göttlichen Gestalten das Gleiche, nämlich "der Helle/der Strahlende".

Beli, Belenus ("lśniący") - w mitologii brytańskiej, szczególnie w Galii (później od Włoch po Brytanię), był bogiem płodności i słońca, troszczącym się o owce i bydło. Jego żoną była Belisama. W Irlandii znany był jako Bile ("święte drzewo"). Mógł być tą samą postacią co Belatu-Cadros.W Walii uważano, że Beli był mężem Danu i ojcem postaci takich, jak Dagda, Dian Cecht, Lir, Lugh, Gwydion, Govannon,  Arianrhod, Gilfaethwy i Amaethon.Był czczony pierwszego maja, podczas święta Beltaine ("Ogień Bela"). Zapalano wtedy ognie oczyszczające, i zmuszano bydło, aby przeszło między nimi przed wyjściem na pastwisko. Jego kult istniał również pośród Celtów zamieszkujących Akwitanię, Austrię, Włochy, Brytanię, Galię, Irlandię i Walię.

Belanu, Belinus, Belemnus o Belenus, Divinita' protoceltica della luce (dal protoindoeuropeo bel, luce), uno dei maggiori e piu' influenti tra gli antichi Dei europei per il quale si eseguivano sacrifici e riti collegati ai solstizi e percio' ai cicli solari dell'anno.
