Beijing

Beijing (Chinese: 北京; pinyin: Běijīng; Wade-Giles: Peiching or Pei-ching; ; literally "Northern capital"; ), a metropolis in northern China, is the capital of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It was formerly known in English as Peking . Beijing is also one of the four municipalities of the PRC, which are equivalent to provinces in China's administrative structure. Beijing Municipality borders Hebei Province to the north, west, south, and for a small section in the east, and Tianjin Municipality to the southeast. Beijing is China's third largest city in terms of population, after Chongqing and Shanghai. It is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and expressways passing through the city. It is also the focal point of many international flights to China. Beijing is recognized as the political, educational, and cultural center of the People's Republic of China, while Shanghai and Hong Kong predominate in economic fields.

Pékin (ou Beijing ; pinyin : Běijīng, « la capitale du nord ») est la capitale et l'un des centres culturels de la République populaire de Chine. L’agglomération est la deuxième du pays par sa population, après Shanghai, avec d'habitants. Elle réunit les trois quarts de la population de la municipalité autonome de Pékin (北京市 Běijīng shì, abrégé en 京 Jīng), un territoire bien plus vaste que l'agglomération proprement dite puisqu'il mesure km². Peking (, ) ist die Hauptstadt der Volksrepublik China und hat eine über dreitausendjährige Geschichte. Der Name bedeutet Nördliche Hauptstadt. Peking ist heute eine Regierungsunmittelbare Stadt, das heißt, sie ist direkt der Zentralregierung unterstellt und damit Provinzen, autonomen Gebieten und Sonderverwaltungszonen gleichgestellt.

Pekin (chiń. 北京, pinyin: Běijīng) to stolica Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej oraz miasto wydzielone, podlegające bezpośrednio władzom kraju. Od północy, zachodu i południa graniczy z prowincją Hebei, a od wschodu z miastem wydzielonym Tiencin. Pekin jest drugim, po Szanghaju, miastem ChRL pod względem liczby ludności. Pełni także funkcję największego ośrodka politycznego, oświatowego i kulturalnego kraju. Krzyżują się tu ważne linie kolejowe i drogi samochodowe.
