Bay of Bengal

The Bay of Bengal is a bay that forms the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean. It resembles a triangle in shape, and is bordered on the east by  Burma and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and on the west by India and Sri Lanka. On the northern tip of the "bay" lies the Bengal region, comprising the Indian state of West Bengal and the country of Bangladesh, thus the name. The southern boundary of the Bay stretches from the southern end of Sri Lanka to the northern tip of Sumatra.

Le golfe du Bengale est une mer qui forme la partie du nord-est de l'Océan Indien. Elle a la forme d'un triangle encadré à l'est par la péninsule indochinoise, et à l'ouest par le sous-continent indien. Au nord du golfe, on trouve l'état indien du Bengale occidental et le Bangladesh, d'où provient son nom. À ses extrémités méridionales, on trouve l'île de Sri Lanka  à l'ouest, et le territoire indien des îles Andaman et Nicobar à l'est.

Der Golf von Bengalen ist der Teil des Indischen Ozeans, der die Landmasse Indien von Hinterindien trennt. Besonders an den Küsten sind zahlreiche Inselgruppen vorgelagert, ohne jedoch außerhalb der Flussmündungen wesentliche Buchten zu bilden. Deshalb gibt es an den Küsten nur wenige natürliche Häfen. Das Klima ist vom Monsun geprägt.

Zatoka Bengalska (beng. Vagopasagar, birm. Bingali Pinko, ang. Bay of Bengal, hindi Bagal ki Khari) - część Oceanu Indyjskiego znajdująca się pomiędzy Półwyspem Indyjskim, wyspą Cejlon oraz archipelagami Andamany i Nikobary. Jej powierzchnia wynosi 2,191 mln km², średnia głębokość 2586 m, a maksymalna dochodzi do blisko 5258 m. Temperatura wody waha się w zimie od 25°C (część północna) do 27°C (część południowa), w lecie dochodzi do ponad 28°C. Zasolenie wynosi ok. 30-34‰. Pływy dochodzą do 10,7 m.

Il Golfo del Bengala per le sue dimensioni più che un golfo è un mare di forma triangolare. Posto tra la penisola indiana e l'Indocina, appartiene all'Oceano Indiano.Si affacciano sul Golfo del Bengala (in senso orario da SW a SE) Sri Lanka, l'India, il Bangladesh, la Birmania, la Thailandia, la Malaysia, Singapore e l'Indonesia.Molti dei fiumi principali dell'India sfociano dall'este del Golfo del Bengala: Al nord ci sono il fiumi Gange, il Meghna e il Brahmaputra. Più a sud sfociano il Godavari, il Krishna e il Kaveri (o Cauvery in inglese). Sfociano anche i fiumi Irrawaddy e Salween della Birmania.
