Bautzen

Bautzen (pronounced , until 1868: Budissin; Upper Sorbian: Budyšin ; Lower Sorbian: Budyšyn ; ) is a city in eastern Saxony, Germany, and capital of the eponymous district. It is located on the Spree River. As of 2005, its population is 42,189. Asteroid 11580 Bautzen is named in honor of the city.Bautzen is often regarded as the unofficial, but historical capital of Upper Lusatia, and it is the most important cultural center of the Sorbs, a Slavic minority.

Bautzen, obersorbisch Budyšin (siehe auch unter Name der Stadt), ist eine Große Kreisstadt in der ostsächsischen Oberlausitz. Sie liegt an der Spree und hat rund 42.000 Einwohner. Obwohl in der Stadt selbst nur eine kleine sorbische Minderheit von 5 bis 10 % der Bevölkerung wohnt, gilt sie als das politische und kulturelle Zentrum der  Sorben in der Oberlausitz.

Budziszyn (niem. Bautzen , do 1868 r.: Budissin; górnołuż. Budyšin; dolnołuż. Budyšyn; czeski Budyšín) to miasto we wschodniej Saksonii w Niemczech, nad rzeką Sprewą.Liczba mieszkańców: 42 266 (2005). W 1987 miasto miało 52 400 mieszkańców.Budziszyn jest nieoficjalną stolicą Górnych Łużyc, stanowi kulturalne centrum Łużyczan.
