Banjul

Banjul (formerly Bathurst) is the capital of The Gambia. The population of the city proper is only 34,828 but the total urban area is many times larger with a population of 523,589 (2003 census). It is located on St Mary's Island (or Banjul Island) where the Gambia River enters the Atlantic Ocean. The island is connected to the mainland by passenger and vehicle ferries to the north and bridges to the south. Banjul is located at 13°28' North, 16°36' West (13.4667, -16.60).

Banjul (ehemals Bathurst) ist die Hauptstadt des westafrikanischen Staats Gambia.Nach einer Schätzung von 2007 leben dort etwa 34.125 Einwohner, damit ist Banjul nach Serekunda, Brikama und Bakau die viertgrößte Stadt Gambias. Die letzte veröffentliche Volkszählung (Zensus) von 1993 ergab 42.326 Einwohner.

Bandżul (ang. Banjul) - stolica i drugie co do wielkości miasto Gambii (największe jest pobliskie miasto Serrekunda), usytuowane na wyspie St. Mary (albo Banjul Island) u ujścia rzeki Gambii do Oceanu Atlantyckiego. Ludność miasta zmniejszyła się o blisko 10 tysięcy, obecnie zamieszkuje je 34,8 tys. (2003), a w 1993 mieszkało tu 42,6 tys. osób. Za to gwałtownie rosła liczba ludności zespołu miejskiego Wielki Bandżul (Greater Banjul Area). W 2003 zamieszkiwało go 357,2 tys. osób, czyli blisko dwa razy więcej niż 20 lat wcześniej.
