<s></s> Bangalore (Indian English: ), officially Bengaluru (, ), is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Located on the Deccan Plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka, Bangalore has an estimated metropolitan population of 65 lakh (6.5 million), making it India's third-most populous city and fifth-largest metropolitan area. Though historically attested at least since 900 CE, recorded history of the city starts from 1537, when Kempe Gowda I, widely regarded as the founder of modern Bangalore, built a mud fort and established it as a province of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Bangalore (hindi बंगलूर, trb.: Bangalur, trl.: Baṁgalūr; kannada ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು; ang. Bangalore) - trzecie co do wielkości miasto i piąta aglomeracja w Indiach – 7,1 mln (2006) mieszkańców. Położenie miasta na płaskowyżu Dekan (950 m n.p.m.) zapewnia łagodny klimat. Obecnie Bangalore nazywane jest indyjską "Doliną Krzemową". Tutaj swoją siedzibę ma między innymi Indian Institute of Science. Wiele międzynarodowych koncernów informatycznych i elektronicznych ma tutaj swoje oddziały (m.in. Sun Microsystems, IBM, Motorola, Oracle, Philips, Texas Instruments, Intel, AMD, HP, Google, VMware – posiada centrum rozwojowe, w którym powstała m.in. usługa Google Finance). W mieście istnieje również Biuro Oddziału Towarzystwa Strażnica sprawujący nadzór nad działalnością Świadków Jehowy w Indiach.
