Banda Aceh

Banda Aceh is the provincial capital and largest city of Aceh, Indonesia, located on the island of Sumatra, with an elevation of 21 m. The population was approximately 260,000 in 2006.The city name first was named as Kutaraja, determined as the provincial capital in 1956. Later its name was changed into Banda Aceh, where the first part of its name comes from the Persian bandar (بندر) and means "port" or "haven". It is also proudly referred to as the "port to Meccah", as Islam first arrived in Aceh and spread throughout Southeast Asia.

Banda Aceh ist eine Stadt auf der indonesischen Insel Sumatra. Sie ist Hauptstadt der Provinz Aceh, liegt an den Flüssen Krueng Aceh und Krueng Daroy und hat ca. 260.000 Einwohner. Bis 1945, also zum Zeitpunkt der Abschaffung des Sultanats, wurde sie Kota Radja (übersetzt "Königsstadt" oder "Hauptstadt") genannt. Banda Aceh ist seit 1976 vom Bürgerkrieg zwischen der militanten Separatistenorganisation Gerekan Aceh Merdeka (GAM) und der indonesischen Regierung gezeichnet.

Banda Aceh (Bandar Aceh, Banda Atjech, dawn. Kutaraja) - miasto na północnym krańcu wyspy Sumatra w Indonezji; współrzędne geograficzne , stolica regionu specjalnego Aceh (Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam) przy ujściu rzeki o tej samej nazwie. Zamieszkuje je ok. 315 tys. mieszkańców (2002), w większości Indusi, Arabowie, Chińczycy i Turcy. Ośrodek przemysłu bawełnianego i jedwabniczego oraz licznych rzemiosł (m.in. jubilerstwa), posiada uniwersytet (Universitas Syiah Kuala zał. 1959). W pobliżu ważny port Uleelheue.

Banda Aceh è una città dell'Indonesia, capoluogo e centro più popoloso della provincia autonoma di Aceh, nel nord-ovest dell'isola di Sumatra. Il nome Banda deriva dal persiano bandar (بندر) che significa "porto". Aceh è il nome del fiume sulla foce del quale sorge la città e che dà il nome all'intera provincia.È la città più occidentale dell'Indonesia e la prima nel Paese ad aver accolto la religione islamica che, oltretutto, vi si è fortemente radicata ed oggi è la religione largamente maggioritaria (più del 95% della popolazione è musulmana).
