Bamako
Bamakó, population 1,690,471 (2006), is the capital and largest city of Mali, and currently estimated to be the fastest growing city in Africa (6th fastest in the world). It is located on the Niger River, near the rapids that divide the Upper and Middle Niger Valleys, in the southwestern part of the country. Bamako is the nation's administrative center, as well as a river port and a major regional trade center. Manufactures include textiles, processed meat and metal goods. There is commercial fishing on the Niger River. Bamako is located at .

Bamako est la capitale du Mali, sur le fleuve Niger, dans le sud-ouest du pays. En 2006, la ville comptait (Bamakois). Son rythme de croissance urbaine est actuellement le plus élevé d'Afrique (et le sixième au monde). Bamako est le centre administratif du pays, un important port fluvial et un centre commercial pour toute la région alentour. La capitale Bamako est érigée en district et subdivisée en six communes dirigées par des maires élus. Adama Sangaré est le maire du district de Bamako.
