Balochistan (Pakistan)

Balochistan, (Balochi, Pashto, Urdu: بلوچستان) is a province in Pakistan, the largest in the country by geographical area. It contains most of the historical region of Balochistan and is named after the Baloch. Its neighbouring regions are Iranian Balochistan to the west, Afghanistan and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas to the north and Punjab and Sindh to the east. To the south is the Arabian Sea. The principal languages in the province are Baluchi, Pashto, Brahui, and Persian. The capital and largest city is Quetta. Balochistan is believed to be rich in mineral resources. It is also a major supplier of natural gas to the country.

Die pakistanische Provinz Belutschistan bildet den östlichen Teil der Region Belutschistan. Der westliche Teil gehört zum Iran. Die Hauptstadt der Provinz ist Quetta.Belutschistan ist mit einer Fläche von 347.190 km² die größte Provinz Pakistans. Allerdings ist sie mit ca. 7,5 Mio. Einwohnern (2004) gleichzeitig die am geringsten besiedelte Region des Landes.

Beludżystan (ang. Balochistan lub Baluchistan) – prowincja w południowo-zachodnim Pakistanie z ośrodkiem administarcyjnym w Quecie. Ukształtowanie terenu w większości górzyste (Góry Mekran), pustynne i półpustynne. W dolinach okresowych rzek i w oazach ma miejsce uprawa pszenicy, ryżu, bawełny i palmy daktylowej. Koczownicza hodowla wielbłądów, owiec, kóz i koni. Na wybrzeżu rozwinięte rybołówstwo. Eksploatacja węgla kamiennego, siarki, rud żelaza i chromu. W regionie Sui największe w Pakistanie złoża gazu ziemnego. Komunikacja w regionie jest słabo rozwinięta.

Beloetsjistan (of Baluchistan) is een provincie van Pakistan en omvat grofweg het deel van de historische landstreek Beloetsjistan dat binnen de grenzen van Pakistan ligt. Naburige regio's zijn de Iraanse provincie Sistan en Beloetsjistan‎ in het westen, meerdere Afghaanse provincies in het noorden, de Pakistaanse Federaal Bestuurde Stamgebieden in het noordoosten, en de overige Pakistaanse provincies Punjab en Sindh in het oosten. In het zuiden grenst Beloetsjistan aan de Arabische Zee. De hoofdstad is Quetta en de provincie heeft 6.565.885 inwoners (1998).
