Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands (Catalan and official: Illes Balears; Spanish: Islas Baleares) are an archipelago in the western Mediterranean Sea, near the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. They form an autonomous community and a province of Spain, of which the capital city is Palma de Mallorca. The co-official languages in the Balearic Islands are Spanish and Catalan (i.e. mallorquí, menorquí and eivissenc, as Catalan is known by its speakers in this territory).

Les îles Baléares (en catalan les illes Balears / les illes Balears i Pitiüses / les Illes, officiellement Illes Balears, en castillan Islas Baleares) sont une communauté autonome de l'Espagne. Il s'agit d'un archipel situé en mer Méditerranée qui comprend 5 îles principales : Majorque (Mallorca), Minorque (Menorca), Ibiza (Eivissa), Formentera et Cabrera ainsi que quelques îlots.

Die Balearischen Inseln (katalanisch Illes Balears, spanisch Islas Baleares) oder Balearen sind eine Inselgruppe im westlichen Mittelmeer und eine Autonome Gemeinschaft Spaniens. Zur Autonomen Gemeinschaft gehören neben den eigentlichen Balearen mit den Hauptinseln Mallorca und Menorca auch die Pityusen mit Ibiza und Formentera. Neben diesen vier und der fünften, mit Abstand kleinsten bewohnten Insel Cabrera umfasst die Autonome Gemeinschaft der Balearen 146 unbewohnte Inseln, zu denen auch die unter Naturschutz stehenden Felseninseln Dragonera und Pantaleu gehören. Größte Insel ist mit 3620,42 Quadratkilometern Mallorca.
