Baldr

Baldr (modern Icelandic and Faroese Baldur, Balder is the name in modern Norwegian, Swedish and Danish and sometimes an anglicized form) is, in Norse Mythology, the god of innocence, beauty, joy, purity, and peace, and is Odin's second son. His wife is called Nanna and his son is called Forseti. Baldr had a ship, the largest ever built, named Hringhorni, and a hall, called Breidablik. Phol may have been a German name for Baldr, based on the second Merseburg charm, where the same person seems to be referred to as Phol and Balder.

Dans la mythologie scandinave, Baldr (vieil islandais Baldr, latin Balderus) était un des Ases, le fils d'Odin et de Frigg. Son épouse est Nanna, et leur fils Forseti. Il est décrit comme «si beau d'apparence et si clair qu'il en est lumineux, et il y a une plante si blanche qu'elle est nommée d'après le cil de Baldr. C'est la plus blanche de toutes les plantes, et cela nous donne une idée de sa beauté, tant de chevelure que de corps. C'est le plus sage des Ases et le plus éloquent et le plus miséricordieux, mais c'est une de ses particularités qu'aucune de ses décisions ne soit accomplie.» (Snorri Sturluson, Edda en prose 2:22.) Son domaine est Breidablik, qui est dans les cieux (ou en Suède, selon la Ynglinga Saga), dans une contrée d'où le mal est banni.

Balder (altnord. baldr: „Herr“; Baldur, Baldr, Phol) ist in der germanischen Mythologie der Gott des Lichtes, der Güte, der Reinheit, der Schönheit. Er findet seine ungefähre Entsprechung in der griechischen Mythologie bei Apollon.Balders Merkmale sind Toleranz, Friedfertigkeit und Liebe; weiter findet er Bedeutung für die eheliche Treue. Pflanzen, die ihm gewidmet sind, sind Kamille, Gänseblümchen und Margeriten (Pflanzen solcher Art heißen auf isländisch noch heute baldrsbrá, also „Baldurs Wimpern“).Er ist Sohn des Odin und der Frigg, somit Bruder von Hödur und Hermodr. Mit seiner Gattin Nanna hat er den Sohn Forseti.

Jest bogiem przyjaznym i kochanym – mimo to pada zabity gałęzią jemioły przez swego ślepego brata Hodura (Heda). W oswobodzeniu Baldura z mocy bogini śmierci Hel przeszkodził bogom Loki. Zostało przyrzeczone, że Baldur powróci do żywych, jeśli wszystko co istnieje na świecie zapłacze z powodu jego odejścia. Nie został wskrzeszony, ale wiele z podań mówi o jego zmartwychwstaniu, gdy świat odrodzi się po ragnarök.

Baldr (conosciuto anche come Balder o in islandese moderno come Baldur) è una divinità della mitologia norrena, appartenente alla famiglia degli Æsir. Secondogenito di Odino e Frigg, la sua consorte è Nanna, da cui ha il figlio Forseti. Ignoto il significato del nome. Secondo alcuni vuol dire "Signore".
