Bala shark
The Bala shark, Balantiocheilos melanopterus, also known as the tricolor shark, silver shark, or shark minnow, is a fish species of the family Cyprinidae, and has long been considered the sole member of the genus Balantiocheilos. This species is not a true shark, but is commonly called a "shark" because of its torpedo-shaped body and large fins.

Feeding Habits
Fresh zucchini, spinach, peas and lettuce. Live brine shrimp, blood worms, glass worms and tubifex worms. Frozen vegetable diet, beef heart, plankton, brine shrimp, blood worms and glass worms. Freeze dried and flake foods are also accept.
Compatibility
A schooling and peaceful fish that may be kept with slightly smaller fish.
Habitat
Asia-Thailand: Decorate moderately with rocks, live plants and driftwood.
Breeding
Not successful in the aquarium. Female is heavier during spawning.
Additional Comments
A covered tank is necessary as these fish are fantastic jumpers. During the evening they will make audible noises. Vegetation is necessary for proper health and growth.
