The Bahawalpur Airport is situated at 10 km from city centre of
Bahawalpur, a town in lower
Punjab. It is one of the less active
airports in
Pakistan, as it operates to cater mainly to the population of Bahawalpur, a city of (
1998 pop.) 403,408 people. A new terminal has been recently constructed.On January 21, 2007, Phase two of the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Airport in Bahawalpur, Pakistan has been inaugurated, according to the local WAM news agency. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai's Deputy Ruler, opened the facility and viewed the new amenities including the departures and arrivals halls. (
