BAFIA

Bafia is a town in the Mbam division of Centre Province, Cameroon, about 85 miles north of the country's capital Yaoundé. It is the see of the eponymous diocese. Bafia has about 69,270 inhabitants, making it the third largest city in the province behind Yaoundé and Mbalmayo. Most citizens belong to either the Bafia people or the Yambassa people

La Ville de Bafia Bafia est une ville du Cameroun située dans la province du Centre, à 120km au nord de Yaoundé. Bafia est le chef-lieu du département du Mbam-et-Inoubou. Elle est constitué d’environ 55.700 habitants. Elle est la troisième plus grande ville de la province du Centre après Yaoundé et Mbalmayo

Bafia ist eine Stadt in Kamerun (Provinz Centre, Departement Mbam). Sie ist nach Yaoundé und Mbalmayo drittgrößte Stadt der Provinz.Die Stadt befindet sich in 467 m Höhe bei 4,75°N, 11,23°O, d.h. rund 130 km nördlich von Yaoundé. Aktuell (2005) leben in der Stadt 69.270 Einwohner (1987: 30.594), überwiegend Angehörige der gleichnamigen Ethnie sowie Angehörige der Yambassa. 1968 wurde die Diözese Bafia gegründet. Im übrigen sind die Anteile der christlichen, der islamischen und der animistischen Bevölkerung in etwa gleichgroß. Die Stadt verfügt über einen Flugplatz und liegt an der Straße von Yaoundé nach Bafoussam. Trotz der relativen Größe ist Bafia bis heute vor allem landwirtschaftlich geprägt, an Industrieansiedlungen fehlt es.
