BABA MALAY

The Malay language, through its history, also experiences pidginization and creolization processes. It occurred mostly by inter-islands trading and interactions where people from various ethnic groups, languages and background meet. Malay, particularly in Eastern Indonesia was brought by trading and missionary, particularly during Dutch colonization for more than 3 centuries.As the result, for daily speaking Malay has been creolized with many European languages influences (specially Dutch and Portuguese) as well as local languages surroundings.

Betawi, Bahasa Betawi of Betawi-Maleis is het Maleise dialect van Jakarta.De term "Betawi" (afgeleid van Batavia) wordt nog veel gebruikt voor Jakarta, en kan, zoals vele Austronesische talen gebruikelijk is, ook als bijvoeglijk naamwoord worden gebruikt: "Jakartaans", en niet alleen bij een taalaanduiding. Bahasa Betawi betekent aldus "Jakartaanse taal", maar het veelvoorkomende anak Betawi is dienovereenkomstig: "afkomstige (kind) van Jakarta".
