Avro

This article is about the British aircraft manufacturer. For the Canadian company see Avro Canada. AVRO (television) is also the name of a Dutch public-service broadcasting organisation. Avro was a British aircraft manufacturer, with numerous landmark designs such as the Avro 504 trainer in the First World War, the Avro Lancaster which was one of the pre-eminent bombers during the Second World War and the delta wing Avro Vulcan, a stalwart of the Cold War.

Avro Aircraft (Limited) est un constructeur aéronautique britannique disparu. Fondée en 1910, elle a produit quelques appareils trés célèbres comme l'Avro 504, biplan d'école de la Première Guerre mondiale, le bombardier Avro Lancaster qui joua un rôle essentiel durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale ou le Vulcan qui participa à la Guerre des Malouines. En 1963 elle a été absorbée par Hawker-Siddeley.

Avro (eigentlich A.V. Roe and Company) war ein britischer Flugzeughersteller mit Stammsitz in Manchester. Der Name geht zurück auf den Firmengründer, den Flugzeugpionier Sir Edwin Alliott Verdon Roe.

Die Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep (AVRO) ist eine niederländische Rundfunkgesellschaft und der älteste Hörfunksender der Niederlande. Die ursprüngliche politische Ausrichtung der AVRO war liberal.Am 8. Juli 1923 wurde die Hilversumsche Draadlooze Omroep gegründet, sie änderte aber bald darauf ihren Namen in Algemeene Nederlandsche Radio Omroep. Die ANRO fusionierte am 28. Dezember 1927 mit der Nederlandsche Omroep Vereeniging zur Algemeene Vereeniging Radio Omroep (AVRO). Direktor in der damaligen Zeit war Willem Vogt. In den ersten Jahren wurden ausschließlich Hörfunksendungen ausgestrahlt, als die Niederlande am 2. Oktober 1951 offiziell das Fernsehen einführte, war AVRO eine der vier ersten Fernsehanbieter.

Avro to brytyjska wytwórnia samolotów, nazwa pochodzi w skrócie od A.V.Roe and Company Limited (A.V.Roe and Co Ltd). Najbardziej znaną konstrukcją Avro był bombowiec Avro Lancaster.Była to jedna z najstarszych wytwórni lotniczych świata, założona w Brownsfield Mills, Manchester w Anglii 1 stycznia 1910. Założycielami byli Alliot Verdon Roe, który dał nazwę firmie, oraz jego brat H.V.Roe. Alliot był już wówczas znany jako pilot. W 1912 firma zbudowała pierwszy w świecie samolot jednopłatowy z zakrytą kabiną, Avro F. Wielkim sukcesem okazał się udany drewniany dwupłatowiec szkolny i wielozadaniowy Avro 504, produkowany w kilku fabrykach podczas I wojny światowej i po wojnie. Do końca wojny liczba wyprodukowanych egzemplarzy sięgnęła 8340, a produkowany był aż do początku lat 30. Produkowany był też na licencji w innych krajach.

De Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep, afgekort AVRO, is de oudste Nederlandse omroeporganisatie. Het is van oudsher een onafhankelijke mediaorganisatie, zonder binding met een religie of politieke groepering.De omroep geeft drie omroepbladen uit: Televizier, TV Film en de Avrobode. Jaarlijks reikt de omroep de Gouden Televizier-ring uit.
