Autobahn

is the German word for a major high-speed road restricted to motor vehicles and having full control of access, similar to a motorway or freeway in English-speaking countries. In most countries, it usually refers to the German autobahn specifically. The recommended speed of the German autobahn is 130 km/h.  Austrian and Swiss autobahns have general speed limits of 130 km/h and 120 km/h, respectively. In German, the word is pronounced as described above, and its plural is Autobahnen; in English, however, the segment "auto" is typically pronounced as in other English words such as "automobile". The official name of the autobahn in Germany is Bundesautobahn (BAB) (Federal Motorway). Autobahns are built and maintained by the federal government (as are the federal highways), thus the name "Federal Motorway". When first built in the 1930s the official name was "Reichsautobahn" (Motorways of the Reich).

Une autoroute est une route réservée à la circulation des véhicules motorisés rapides (automobiles, motos, poids lourds) et dont le tracé permet de circuler avec une sécurité optimale. Dans certains pays, mais pas en France, l'appellation voie rapide ou voie express, semble plutôt réservée au réseau routier traditionnel, mis aux normes autoroutières (élargissement de voies, chaussées séparées et déviations d'agglomérations), sans pour autant engendrer un tracé nouveau, toutefois, en France, des différences légales existent, voir plus-bas. La première autoroute au monde (en italien, autostrada), l'autoroute des Lacs a été créée pour relier Milan à la région des lacs, en 1924 (77 km).

Microsoft AutoRoute est un logiciel de planification d'itiniréraire qui peut vous être livré avec un récepteur GPS. Le logiciel est très précis, il a dans sa base de données toutes les rues de 35 pays, les restaurants les plus importants de la région. Il est livré avec un système de guidage vocal. La version destinée aux nord américains (États-Unis, Canada, Mexique) est appelée Microsoft Streets & Trips.

Eine Autobahn ist eine Fernverkehrsstraße, die ausschließlich dem Schnellverkehr und dem Güterfernverkehr mit Kraftfahrzeugen dient. Sie besteht aus zwei Richtungsfahrbahnen mit (in Deutschland seit einigen Jahrzehnten) jeweils mindestens zwei Fahrstreifen, meistens mit zusätzlichem Standstreifen. Beide Fahrbahnen sind durch einen Grünstreifen, in dem oft Schutzplanken aus Stahl oder eine Betonschutzwand errichtet sind, voneinander getrennt.

Autobahn - album niemieckiego zespołu Kraftwerk, grającego muzykę elektroniczną. Wydany w 1974 roku. Album był pierwszym wielkim sukcesem zespołu, zajął 5 miejsce na liście bestsellerów w USA, 4 miejsce w Anglii, 7 w Niemczech. Pomysł na płytę był prosty, a jednocześnie bardzo oryginalny. Wiązał się z Volkswagenem Garbusem, należącym do Ralfa Hüttera, członka zespołu. Muzycy podczas długich i nudnych podróży Garbusem nagrywali otaczające ich odgłosy, które po zmiksowaniu i udziwnieniu syntetycznymi efektami dały wspaniałe utwory podobające się od pierwszego przesłuchania. Pierwszy raz w twórczości zespołu pojawiły się słowa (utwór "Autobahn"), wcześniejsze utwory były jedynie muzyką instrumentalną.
