Australian Catholic University

Australian Catholic University, or ACU National, is Australia's only public Catholic university. It has more than 13,000 students and 900 staff on six campuses located in three states and the Australian Capital Territory. ACU National, which is open to all staff and students regardless of their religious beliefs, is affiliated with the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the International Federation of Catholic Universities. Prominent Western Australian academic Greg Craven is set to take over the vice-chancellorship at the start of 2008.

Die Australian Catholic University (ACU) ist die einzige staatliche katholische Universität in Australien. Sie wird von mehr als 13.000 Studenten besucht, die auf sechs Standorte in drei Bundesstaaten und einem Bundesterritorium verteilt sind. Entgegen ihrer Bezeichnung steht sie nicht nur Katholiken offen, sondern auch Anhängern anderer Glaubensrichtungen. Die ACU wurde am 1. Januar 1991 gegründet und entstand aus dem Zusammenschluss von vier höheren katholischen Bildungsinstitutionen in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria und im Australian Capital Territory.

Australian Catholic University (eller ACU) er et offentlig, katolsk universitet i Australia. Det ble grunnlagt i 1991 og har campus i Brisbane, Ballarat, Canberra, Melbourne og to steder i Sydney. Det ble grunnlagt av irske immigranter som motvekt mot britenes arbeid for protestantiske verdier i utdanningen, og er det eneste offentlig eide katolske lærestedet i landet. ACU spesialiserer seg på lærer-, sykepleie- og annen helseutdanning. Det undervises også i teologi og andre fag.
