The Australian wine industry is the world's fourth largest exporter of wine with approximately 750 million litres a year to the international export market with only about 40% of production consumed domestically. The wine industry is a significant contributor to the Australian economy through production, employment, export and tourism.

Der Weinbau in Australien beschränkt sich hauptsächlich auf die südlichen Regionen Australiens, konzentriert sich also auf die Bundesstaaten Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia (z. B. Barossa Valley und Coonawarra) und einige wenige Orte in Western Australia (z. B. Swan Valley), an denen das Klima gemäßigt ist.

Introduite en 1788, en Nouvelle-Galles du Sud, la vigne se répandit eu dans beaucoup de régions du pays, mais le vignoble demeure concentré dans le sud-est et l'extrême sud, des régions ensoleillées mais relativement fraîches.

Australiska viner har på senare år genomgått en renässans och kvaliteten har förbättrats betydligt. Nu görs riktigt bra viner här, bland annat det världsberömda Grange från producenten Penfolds som är en av Australiens största. En av anledningarna till omvandlingen till ett mer välrenommerat vinland är införandet av ett klassificeringssystem som stod klart 1994.
