Augusto Pinochet

(born 1915) dictator of Chile from 1973-1990 who was arrested in London in 1998 and was sought for extradition to Spain (his government was responsible for many killings and violations of human rights)

Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte (November 25, 1915 – December 10, 2006) was President of Chile from 1974 to 1990, and head of the military junta from 1973 to 1974. His rule instituted broad economic reforms and a severe and highly controversial campaign against leftist political parties, including repression of the civilian population.
