Athena

ATHENA is an antimatter research project that is taking place at the AD Ring at CERN. In 2002, it was the first experiment to produce 50,000 low-energy antihydrogen atoms, as reported in the journal Nature.

In Greek mythology, Athena (Attic: , Athēnâ, or , Athḗnē; Doric: , Asána; Latin: Minerva) is the shrewd companion of Heroes and the Goddess of Heroic endeavour. She would also come to be known as the goddess of wisdom as philosophy became applied to cult in the later fifth century. She remained the patroness of weaving especially and other crafts (Athena Ergane) and the more disciplined side of war, where she led the battle (Athena Promachos). Athena's wisdom also includes the cunning intelligence (metis) of such figures as Odysseus.

Pallas Athene, auch Athene Parthenos (altgriechisch (attisch/ionisch) , dorisch   , neugriechisch  ; Beinamen: „Unermüdliche, Unüberwindliche“; „Jungfrau“) ist eine Göttin der griechischen Mythologie (in der römischen Mythologie wurde sie analog zur Gestalt der Minerva). Atena (gr.  Athene lub Athenaie) - w mitologii greckiej bogini mądrości, sztuki, wojny sprawiedliwej oraz opiekunka miasta Ateny. Istnieje kilka mitów o pochodzeniu Ateny, według najbardziej znanego była ona córką Zeusa i Metis. Urodziła się wyskakując z głowy ojca, w pełnej zbroi. W późnej hellenistycznej opowieści ukarała Arachne zamieniając ją w pająka, gdyż ta przechwalała się swoimi umiejętnościami tkackimi. Stoczyła spór z Posejdonem o opiekę nad Atenami, który wygrała. Podarowała miastu drzewo oliwne, które jest źródłem bogactwa Attyki.
