AtheOS
AtheOS was a free and open source operating system for x86-based computers. It was initially intended as an AmigaOS clone, but that objective was later abandoned. It is no longer in development, and has been superseded by the Syllable operating system.

Atheos may refer to:
  • Greek ἄθεος "godless"
  • the AtheOS operating system.
  • Atheos is the "supreme god of the atheist pantheon" according to the television program X-play
  • Means "godless, denying the gods, severing relations with the gods, ungodly." Is the root of the word Atheism.

AtheOS
AtheOS (früher AltOS) ist ein unter der GNU General Public License stehendes freies Betriebssystem für den Desktop Einsatz auf X86-Prozessoren. Es wurde von Kurt Skauen entwickelt. Er hat ebenfalls diverse Software auf AtheOS portiert, wie z. B. Apache und KHTML für den Webbrowser ABrowse. Ursprünglich war AtheOS als AmigaOS-Klon geplant, doch ist davon nichts als die Standard-Fensterdekoration übrig geblieben.

AtheOS
AtheOS - zaprojektowany przez norweskiego programistę  Kurta Skauena system operacyjny, przeznaczony do zastosowań multimedialnych i biurowych. Obecnie projekt nie jest rozwijany, jego kontynuację stanowi Syllable. Architektura systemu posiada wiele podobieństw do systemu BeOS oraz AmigaOS.

Jądro systemu obsługuje architekturę SMP, posiada możliwość dołączania sterowników urządzeń oraz systemów plików podczas działania, ponadto oferuje wbudowany stos TCP/IP oraz system graficzny (GUI). System graficzny jest podzielony na dwie części:

  • serwera aplikacji, z którym programista komunikuje się za pomocą API w języku C++, a który to oferuje funkcje wysokiego poziomu,
  • części umieszczonej w jądrze, komunikującej się z serwerem aplikacji za pomocą niewidocznego dla programisty protokołu, niekompatybilnego z protokołem X Window System.
