Atenas (ah-tennis) is the capital city of the canton of Atenas in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. It is also the name of the distrito (district) that includes the city. The district of Atenas covers an area of 8.93 km², and has a population of 7,716. Its name means Athens (Αθήνα) (Greek name).

Asociación Deportiva Atenas (meist nur Atenas genannt) ist ein argentinischer Sportverein aus Córdoba. Er ist vor allem für seine Aktivität im Basketball bekannt, in dem er zu den erfolgreichsten Clubs Südamerikas zählt. Da der Name von der griechischen Hauptstadt Athen kommt, wird der Verein im Volksmund auch los griegos oder nach der argentinischen Tradition, Clubs Spitznamen in Einzahl zu geben, el griego (die Griechen bzw. der Grieche) genannt.
