Association à but non lucratif

Journaliste en danger (JED) is an independent, non partisan non-profit organization  founded on November 20 1998 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, on the initiative of a group of Congolese journalists for the defence and promotion of the press freedom in DR Congo. JED was founded out of the concern that press freedom was being violated and that journalists had become victims of unfair justice. JED is not an association reserved solely for journalists, but rather a wholly independent and open structure to all those who feel like having a vocation to defend and promote their right to inform and to be informed freely without any restriction.

Une association est un regroupement d'au moins deux personnes qui décident de mettre en commun des moyens afin d'exercer une activité dont le but n'est pas leur enrichissement personnel ; c'est pourquoi on parle aussi d'association à but non lucratif, ou d'association sans but lucratif en Belgique, association loi 1901 en France...). Le caractère désintéressé interdit la distribution d'un bénéfice aux associés, mais il n'implique pas que l'activité soit déficitaire, et un bénéfice peut servir à développer l'activité.
