Le Associate's Degree ou Associate Degree (Diplôme d'associé) est un diplôme américain attribué aux étudiants qui ont validé avec succès un programme d'éducation supérieur d'une durée de deux ans. Il est accordé par certains colleges ou community colleges et par certaines universités. Il existe de très nombreux types de diplômes de ce genre parmi lesquels l'Associate of Arts (AA) en art, l'Associate of Science (AS) en sciences ou l'Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) en soins infirmiers.

Associate degree ist die Bezeichnung für den Abschluss eines US-amerikanischen oder kanadischen community college (staatlich) oder junior college (privat). Dieser Abschluss wird nach einem typischerweise zweijährigem Studium erreicht. Auch einige four-year colleges vergeben diesen Abschluss. In diesem Falle handelt es sich meist um sogenannte 2+2 programs bei denen die Studenten nach zwei Jahren Studium einen Associate degree und nach weiteren zwei Jahren einen Bachelor-Abschluss erhalten. Der Associate degree gilt in den USA als akademischer Grad, ist aber in vielen anderern Ländern, besonders in Europa, nicht als solcher anerkannt. In der jüngsten Zeit haben auch Hongkong und Australien Associate degrees eingeführt.

Associate degree (afkorting: AD of Ad) is een hbo-graad in Nederland in kader van het Bachelor-masterstelsel. Het is de laagst mogelijke graad te behalen in Nederland in het hoger onderwijs.Om het aanbod te verbreden in het hoger beroepsonderwijs en het gat te dichten tussen het middelbaar beroepsonderwijs en het hoger onderwijs werd in september 2006 gestart met tweejarige opleidingen aan hogescholen. Afronding hiervan wordt afgesloten met een (nieuwe) wettelijke graad, de "Associate Degree" geheten. De opleidingen sluiten aan bij de behoefte uit het bedrijfsleven aan personeel met een opleidingsniveau dat ligt tussen mbo niveau 4 en een hbo-bachelor. De AD-opleidingen zijn daarom zeer relevant voor de huidige arbeidsmarkt.

Es concedido por un community college (en EE.UU.), o por una universidad (también se le llama grado de técnico).Los tipos de grados incluyen al asociado de las artes (AA) o al asociado de la ciencia (AS), concedido generalmente después del equivalente de los primeros dos años de un plan de estudios de cuatro años en la universidad, y asociado en ciencias aplicadas (AAS), concedida sobre la terminación de un programa técnico o vocacional de estudio.
