Asset turnover
Asset turnover
The ratio of net sales to total
assets.
Asset Turnover
a ratio used to evaluate the profitability of a firm; net sales in a given period are divided by total assets.
Asset Turnover
equals sales divided by capital employed. Capital intensive industries (eg. heavy engineering) will tend to have low figures for asset turnover. The asset turnover can be improved by generating a higher level of sales from a given asset base or by disposing of assets which are not productive.
