Asphalt

The term asphalt is often used as an abbreviation for asphalt concrete. For the film, see Asphalt (film); for the novel, see Carl Hancock Rux. Asphalt is a sticky, black and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid that is present in most crude petroleums and in some natural deposits. It is most commonly modeled as a colloid, with asphaltenes as the dispersed phase and maltenes as the continuous phase (though there is some disagreement amongst chemists regarding its structure). In U.S. terminology, asphalt (or asphalt cement) is the carefully refined residue from the distillation process of selected crude oils. Outside North America, the product is called bitumen.

L’asphalte est un mélange de bitume et de granulats. C'est un matériau « fermé », c'est à dire qu'il n'y a aucun vide. À l'état naturel, c'est un mélange de bitume et de roche calcaire. Sous l'effet de la compression de ces deux matériaux au cours du temps par les couches supérieures, le calcaire est imprégné à cœur par le bitume (environ 12% de bitume). Cette roche est actuellement exploitée sous forme de poudre que l'on incorpore à d'autres formules. On le trouve dans des mines ou même affleurant à la surface. En France, il n'existe qu'un gisement utilisé actuellement, près de Nîmes dans le Gard. Les ressources disponibles y sont très importantes.

Asphalt (von griechisch ασφαλτος ásphaltos „Bestand haben“) bezeichnet sowohl eine natürliche als auch eine technisch hergestellte Mischung aus dem Bindemittel Bitumen und Gesteinskörnungen, die im Straßenbau für Fahrbahnbefestigungen, im Hochbau für Fußbodenbeläge, im Wasserbau und seltener im Deponiebau zur Abdichtung verwendet wird. Aus technischen und wirtschaftlichen Gründen sind Asphaltbefestigungen in verschiedenartige Schichten unterteilt. Hierbei werden Asphalttrag-, Asphaltbinder-, und Asphaltdeckschichten unterschieden. Je nach Dicke und Lage liefern sie ihren Anteil zur Tragfähigkeit der Gesamtkonstruktion, sofern alle Schichten zu einem kompakten Baukörper verbunden sind. Asphalt verhält sich chemisch nahezu inert (träges Reaktionsverhalten) und weist ein thermoplastisches Verhalten auf.

Asfalt – materiał (lepka ciecz lub skała) pochodzenia naturalnego (asfalt naturalny) lub otrzymywany jako jedna z frakcji przerobu ropy naftowej (asfalt ponaftowy), o konsystencji stałej lub półstałej o barwie od ciemnobrązowej do czarnej. Jest on układem koloidalnym o dużej trwałości, składającym się z dwóch faz: rozproszonej (asfalteny) i rozpraszającej (oleje). Jest stosowany do budowy nawierzchni dróg, do produkcji papy oraz jako materiał izolacyjny. Jest to mieszanina wielkocząsteczkowych węglowodorów łańcuchowych, cyklicznych oraz związków heterocyklicznych. O jakości asfaltu decyduje jego temperatura mięknienia, ciągliwość, stopień penetracji, łamliwość. Należy do tak zwanych bitumin.

Asfalt is een materiaal dat wordt samengesteld uit minerale aggregaten en bitumen. Het wordt veel toegepast als wegverhardingsmateriaal, maar wordt onder andere ook toegepast in de waterbouw. Van nature komt asfalt voor in asfaltmeren (zoals op Trinidad) en steenasfalt. Dit laatste is een mengsel van zand, leem en asfalt.
