Aspen

Aspens are trees of the willow family and comprise a section of the poplar genus, Populus sect. Populus. Aspen est une station de ski du Colorado, dans les Montagnes Rocheuses à l'ouest des États-Unis. Le nom vient de l'abondance des trembles (en anglais :aspen trees) dans la région. Aspen fut d'abord un centre d'exploitation des mines d'argent où fut extrait au XIX siècle un bloc d'argent de 2 tonnes.

Le tremble, aussi appelé peuplier tremble (Populus tremula) en Europe ou peuplier faux-tremble au Québec, est une espèce d'arbre du genre Populus et de la famille des Salicaceae. Elle est de taille moyenne à feuilles caduques. Il est répandu dans l'ensemble de l'Eurasie. Il doit son nom au fait que ses feuilles s'agitent au moindre souffle de vent.

Die Espe, Aspe oder Zitterpappel (Populus tremula) ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung der Pappeln (Populus). Im weiteren Sinne werden neben der Europäischen Zitterpappel auch die Grobzähnige Zitterpappel (Populus grandidentata) und die Amerikanische Zitterpappel (Populus tremuloides) als Espen bezeichnet.

Aspen è la più grande città della Pitkin County, Colorado. Secondo un censimento del 2006 ha 5804 abitanti. È stata fondata come centro minerario e chiamata "Aspen" per l'abbondanza di alberi di pioppo tremulo (aspen in inglese); da dopo la seconda guerra mondiale si è sviluppata come centro sciistico e culturale grazie all'opera di Walter Paepcke, un industriale di Chicago che volle formare una comunità basata sulla conciliazione della mente e del corpo.
