Asparagaceae

Asparagaceae is the botanical name of a family of flowering plants. Such a family has been recognized by quite a few taxonomists, but hardly universally: often the plants involved are treated as belonging to the family Liliaceae. The APG II system, of 2003 also recognizes this family and places it in the order Asparagales, in the clade monocots. APG II allows two options as to circumscription of the family:Asparagaceae sensu lato ("in the wider sense"), that is including all the plants listed in the second option.Asparagaceae sensu stricto ("in the strict sense"), consisting of very few genera (notably Asparagus), but nevertheless totalling a few hundred species. This circumscription assumes that the following are recognized as separate: family Agavaceaefamily Aphyllanthaceaefamily Hesperocallidaceaefamily Hyacinthaceaefamily Laxmanniaceaefamily Ruscaceaefamily Themidaceae These families were also recognized in the APG system, of 1998, except families Hesperocallidaceae and Ruscaceae which are 'new'. Relatively few publications have adopted the APG II's broader circumscription of Asparagaceae, with most adopting the narrower circumscription and recognizing the segregate families.

La famille des Asparagacées est une famille de plantes monocotylédones. Cette famille n'existe pas en classification classique qui assimile ces plantes aux Liliacées. La classification phylogénétique a donc séparé cette famille des Liliacées et la rattache à l'ordre des Asparagales. En APG II (2003), une réforme a modifié encore sensiblement le classement. La classification APG II offre deux options:Asparagaceae lato sensu : cette famille inclurait les plantes autrefois assignées aux familles Agavaceae, Aphyllanthaceae, Hyacinthaceae, Laxmanniaceae, Ruscaceae et Themidaceae. Asparagaceae stricto sensu : cette famille exclurait les plantes assignées aux familles Agavaceae, Aphyllanthaceae, Hyacinthaceae, Laxmanniaceae, Ruscaceae et Themidaceae. Cette famille ne comprend plus que 2 genres: Asparagus et Hemiphylacus.

De aspergefamilie (Asparagaceae) is een familie van eenzaadlobbige planten. De omschrijving van deze familie wil nogal eens wisselen.In het APG II systeem (2003) is er de optie tot keuze uit twee verschillende omschrijvingen:in enge zin, twee geslachten: Asparagus en Hemiphylacusin ruime zin, inclusief de planten die anders worden toegewezen aan de agavefamilie (Agavaceae), de hyacintenfamilie (Hyacinthaceae) en de families Aphyllanthaceae, Laxmanniaceae, Ruscaceae en Themidaceae.
