Asosa

Asosa (formerly known as Aqoldi) is a town in western Ethiopia and the capital of the Benishangul-Gumaz Region (or kilil) of Ethiopia. Located in the Asosa Zone, this town has a latitude and longitude of , with an elevation of 1570 meters. Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Asosa has an estimated total population of 20,226, of whom 10,929 were males and 9,297 were females. According to the 1994 census, which is the latest official population count for Ethiopia, Asosa had a population of 11,749. It is the largest settlement in the woreda of Asosa.
