Ashura

The Day of Ashura ( , Ashura, Ashoura, and other spellings) is on the 10th day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar and marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram but not the Islamic month. This day is well-known because of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad at the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (AD 680). Furthermore Sunni Muslims believe that Moses fasted on that day to express gratitude to God for liberation of Israelites from Egypt. According to Sunni Muslim tradition, Muhammad fasted on this day and asked other people to fast.

Aschura / ʿāšūrāʾ ( von aschara „zehn“), teils auch Ashura, wird der zehnte Tag des islamischen Monats Muharram genannt, an dem die Schiiten des Todes Imam Husains in Kerbela gedenken. Auch für die Aleviten ist Aschura ein bedeutender Tag, jedoch kein Gedenktag wie bei den Schiiten, sondern ein Feiertag.

Aszura, ‘Āšūrā’ (arab. عاشوراء, od aram. asurya – dekada) – święto muzułmańskie obchodzone 10. dnia Muharramu – pierwszego miesiąca kalendarza muzułmańskiego. Najważniejsze święto szyitów, obchodzone głównie przez tę denominację. Tego dnia opłakuje się męczeńską śmierć Husajna ibn Alego, wnuka Mahometa poległego w bitwie pod Karbalą z wojskami kalifa omajjadzkiego 10 października 680 r. n.e.Z tej okazji odbywają się procesje i przedstawienia pasyjne. W czasie procesji zmierzających do grobu Husajna gromady mężczyzn biczują się do krwi. Pielgrzymi płaczą i zawodzą. Organizowane są spotkania, odrębne dla kobiet i mężczyzn, podczas których rozpamiętuje się cierpienia imama. Kobiety w tym czasie ubierają się na czarno i nie noszą ozdób.

La Ashura (dall'arabo: عشرة, ˁašara, "dieci", donde عاشوراء, ˁāšūrā, "il 10 del mese di muharram") è una festa religiosa islamica.Si tratta di una festività celebrata in modi diversi e con motivazioni diverse (e non sempre molto chiare) nel modo islamico. Nel mondo sciita essa ha un carattere marcatamente luttuoso, mentre altrove ha aspetti meno severi e addirittura in Nordafrica ha aspetti di gioia sfrenata che ne fanno una sorta di carnevale.
