Armenian Highland

The Armenian Highland (also known as the Armenian Upland or Armenian Plateau) is part of the Transcaucasian Highland and constitutes the continuation of the Caucasus mountains, also referred as eastern Armenia. Most of the Armenian Highland is in Turkey, with some part in Iran. Almost all of Armenia is within the Armenian Highland. The Armenian Upland also extends into western parts of Azerbaijan.

Le haut-plateau arménien (en arménien : Հայկական լեռնաշխարհ : Haykakan Lernachkharh) est une plaine située en Arménie, dans la partie méridionale de la Géorgie, la partie occidentale de l'Azerbaidjan (enclave du Nakhitchevan), le nord-ouest de l'Iran et la partie orientale de la Turquie. Ce territoire se situe entre et d'altitude, au milieu des massifs montagneux de Transcaucasie qui relient le Petit Caucase aux monts Taurus.

Das Armenische Hochland, im Deutschen auch Ararathochland genannt, liegt am südöstlichen Rand des Kaukasus. Es umfasst Gebiete der Türkei (vor allem die ehemalige osmanische Provinz Armenistan), des Irans, Georgiens und fast vollständig die heutige Republik Armenien. Im 17. Jahrhundert standen rund neun Zehntel des Armenischen Hochlandes unter osmanischer Herrschaft. Die höchste Erhebung ist der 5.200m hohe Ararat, ein erloschener Vulkan. Große Seen sind der Vansee und der Sewansee.

Wyżyna Armeńska (orm. Հայկական լեռնաշխարհ — Hajkakan Lernaszcahrh, tur. Doğu Anadolu Yaylası) - wyżyna w zachodniej części Azji, we wschodniej części półwyspu Azja Mniejsza. Jest to obszar aktywny sejsmicznie, najbardziej narażony na trzęsienia ziemi na całym półwyspie Azja Mniejsza, z najwyższym szczytem Turcji, a jednocześnie wygasłym wulkanem - Araratem (5165 m n.p.m. wg pomiaru satelitarnego NASA).

Армя́нское наго́рье — среднее из трёх переднеазиатских нагорий. Большая часть Армянского нагорья находится в пределах современных Турции и Армении. К Армянскому нагорью относится также западная часть Ирана, юг Грузии и западная часть Азербайджана. В широком смысле слова Армянское нагорье включает также Малый Кавказ (образующий его границу с севера), Восточный (Армянский) Тавр и Курдские (Курдистанские) горы. Площадь Армянского нагорья (в широком смысле) составляет около 400 тыс. кв. км. На западе Армянское нагорье смыкается с Малоазиатским, на юге у его подножия расположена Месопотамская равнина, а на юго-востоке оно постепенно сливается с Иранским нагорьем.
