Argentina national football team

The Argentina national football team is the national football team of Argentina and is controlled by the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA).Argentina is one of the most successful national football teams in the world, having won 2 World Cups in 1978 and 1986. Argentina has been runners up twice in both the 1930 World Cup and 1990 World Cup. Argentina has also won the Copa América a record 14 times, tied with Uruguay. Moreover, Argentina has also won the Confederations Cup and the gold medal at the Olympic football tournament in 2004. Prior to that occasion Argentina had obtained two silver medals in the 1928 and 1996 editions. On other levels of international competition Argentina has won the FIFA U-20 World Cup a record six times. The FIFA U-17 World Cup is the only FIFA international competition yet to be obtained.

La Nazionale di calcio argentina (sp. Selección nacional de fútbol de Argentina) è la squadra di calcio che rappresenta l'Argentina ed è posta sotto l'egida della Asociación del Fútbol Argentino. Tra le più forti Nazionali del mondo, nel suo palmarès annovera 14 Coppe America (record assieme all'Uruguay), 2 Coppe del mondo (nel 1978 e nel 1986) e un oro olimpico (nel 2004). Ha ottenuto la medaglia d'argento alle Olimpiadi del 1928 e del 1996. È stata finalista perdente ai Mondiali 1930 (sconfitta dall'Uruguay) e ai Mondiali 1990, dove fu sconfitta dalla Germania Ovest, nella riedizione della finale del Mondiale di quattro anni prima. Ha vinto anche la prima edizione della Confederations Cup nel 1992. A novembre 2007 occupa il primo posto del Ranking mondiale FIFA.
