April Fools' Day

April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day, though not a holiday in its own right, is a notable day celebrated in many countries on April 1. The day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, enemies and neighbours, or sending them on fools' errands, the aim of which is to embarrass the gullible. In some countries, April Fools' jokes (also called "April Fools") are only made before noon on 1 April.

Als Aprilscherz bezeichnet man den Brauch, am 1. April seine Mitmenschen durch erfundene oder verfälschte Geschichten hereinzulegen. Aprilscherze sind in den meisten westeuropäischen Ländern üblich, verbürgt sind sie bereits seit dem 16. Jahrhundert. Erstmals überliefert ist die Redensart „in den April schicken“ in Deutschland 1618 in Bayern. Mit den europäischen Auswanderern gelangte diese Tradition auch nach Nordamerika.

Prima aprilis (łac. 1 kwietnia), dzień żartów – obyczaj związany z pierwszym dniem kwietnia, zapoczątkowany mniej więcej w połowie XIII wieku, obchodzony w wielu krajach świata. Polega on na robieniu żartów, celowym wprowadzaniu w błąd, konkurowaniu w próbach sprawienia, by inni uwierzyli w coś nieprawdziwego. Tego dnia w wielu mediach pojawiają się różne żartobliwe informacje. W Wielkiej Brytanii nazywany jest Dniem Głupca (April Fool's Day lub All Fools' Day), a we Francji Dniem Ryby.

La festa del Pesce d'aprile viene festeggiata il primo aprile in diversi paesi. In quel giorno vengono fatti scherzi (detti appunto pesci d'aprile) anche piuttosto sofisticati con lo scopo di mettere le persone in imbarazzo.
