April

April is the fourth month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar, and one of four months with the length of 30 days. The month of April begins (astrologically) with the sun in the sign of Aries and ends in the sign of Taurus. Astronomically speaking, the sun begins in the constellation of Pisces and ends in the constellation of Aries. The signs of the zodiac do not necessarily coincide with the actual constellations for which they are named. The precession of the equinoxes, a phenomenon discovered c. 130 BC by Hipparchus and known to Ptolemy, results in a shift between the two systems of about one degree every 70 years. The vernal equinox lay near the beginning of the Aries constellation around 500 BC, consistent with a Babylonian origin of the system.

Der April ist der vierte Monat des Jahres im Gregorianischen Kalender.Er hat 30 Tage.Der Name bezieht sich vermutlich auf die sich öffnenden Knospen im Frühling und kommt vom Lateinischen aperire = öffnen her. Der alte deutsche Name ist Ostermond (durch Karl den Großen im 8. Jahrhundert eingeführt), weil Ostern meist im April liegt. Andere, heute kaum mehr gebräuchliche Bezeichnungen sind Wandelmonat oder auch Launing.

Aprile è il quarto mese dell'anno in base al calendario gregoriano ed il secondo della primavera nell'emisfero boreale, dell'autunno nell'emisfero australe, consta di 30 giorni e si colloca nella prima metà di un anno civile.Secondo alcune interpretazioni il nome deriva dal greco Aphros, che è il nome greco della dea Afrodite, a cui era dedicato il mese di Aprile. Secondo altre teorie, il nome deriva dal latino aperire (aprire) per indicare il mese in cui si "schiudono" piante e fiori.
