Application Program

Application software is a subclass of computer software that employs the capabilities of a computer directly and thoroughly to a task that the user wishes to perform. This should be contrasted with system software which is involved in integrating a computer's various capabilities, but typically does not directly apply them in the performance of tasks that benefit the user. In this context the term application refers to both the application software and its implementation.

Ein Anwendungsprogramm (kurz „Anwendung“) ist ein Computerprogramm, das eine für den Anwender nützliche Funktion ausführt, z. B.  Buchhaltung, Informationssysteme, Computer Aided Design, Textverarbeitung, Tabellenkalkulation oder auch Spiele. Aus dem englischen Begriff Application hat sich in der Alltagssprache auch die Bezeichnung „Applikation“ für Anwendungsprogramm eingebürgert.

Aplikacja - konkretny ze względu na oferowaną użytkownikom funkcjonalność element oprogramowania użytkowego, które jest podkategorią oprogramowania . Aplikacje to między innymi menedżery plików, oprogramowanie biurowe (edytory, arkusze kalkulacyjne, programy finansowe-księgowe, magazynowe, kadrowo-płacowe, itp.) oraz gry komputerowe, programy multimedialne i edukacyjne. Aplikacja może się nie uruchomić, z powodu tego, iż może zabierać za dużo pamięci RAM.

Applicazione in informatica è tutto ciò che si può ottenere con l'utilizzo degli strumenti informatici (sistema hardware + software). Soltanto i sistemi operativi e i loro componenti non sono considerati applicazioni, in quanto necessari al funzionamento intrinseco degli strumenti. La componente hardware oggi ha perso la sua rilevanza, tanto che un sinonimo di applicazione è software per ... fare qualcosa. L'assunto di partenza può quindi anche essere espresso in termini di software applicativo, in contrapposizione al software di base

Een applicatie (letterlijk: toepassing) of informatiesysteem is een computerprogramma dat is bedoeld om door de gebruiker direct te worden gebruikt. Dit in tegenstelling tot een server-taak of andere taken die door een besturingssysteem in de achtergrond worden uitgevoerd.Een veelgebruikte analogie om het verschil te verduidelijken is de relatie tussen verlichting (applicatie) en een elektriciteitscentrale (systeem). De elektriciteitscentrale dient er voor om stroom te produceren wat an sich geen nut voor een gebruiker heeft. Pas als deze stroom wordt gebruikt, voor bijvoorbeeld verlichting, heeft de gebruiker er iets aan.
