Application Oriented Layer

Layers 5, 6, and 7 of the OSI Reference Model. They are also referred to as the "Network Independent" or "Communications" Layers. These layers are concerned with the protocols that allow two end user application processes to interact with each other, normally through a range of services offered by the local operating system.
