Apple iPod

iPod is a brand of portable media player designed and marketed by Apple and launched in October 2001. The line-up currently consists of the original style hard drive-based flagship iPod classic, the iPhone-like iPod touch, the mid-level video-capable iPod nano, and the low-end screenless iPod shuffle. Former products include the compact iPod mini (replaced by the iPod nano) and the high-end spin-off iPod photo (re-integrated into the main iPod classic line). The current iPod classic models store media on an internal hard drive, while all other current models use flash memory to enable their smaller size. Like many digital music players, iPods can also serve as external data storage devices.

Le iPod est un appareil électronique conçu et commercialisé par Apple. C'est le lecteur portatif de musique numérique (aussi appelé baladeur numérique ou abusivement baladeur mp3) le plus vendu au monde : cent cinquante millions d’exemplaires ont été vendus entre son lancement en octobre 2001 et mai 2008. Le père de l'iPod est Tony Fadell, qui avait proposé auparavant son idée à Philips et RealNetworks.

Der iPod der Firma Apple ist einer der erfolgreichsten Portable-Media-Player. Er ist der meistverkaufte und beliebteste tragbare Musikplayer der Welt. Seit Einführung der fünften iPod-Generation ist auch die Wiedergabe von Videos möglich. Von Apple wird eine starke Bindung an die eigene, kostenlose Software iTunes angestrebt. Dennoch lässt sich der iPod bislang auch mit anderer Software bespielen und verwalten. Als Erfinder gilt Tony Fadell, den Apple als Hardware-Entwickler verpflichtet hat. Das Design der iPods stammt von Jonathan Ive. Der iPod gewann den „red dot design award“ 2002. Seit einiger Zeit erhält der iPod Konkurrenz von verschiedenen Anbietern, die teilweise wesentlich mehr Funktionalität bei günstigeren Preisen anbieten.

iPod – wspólna nazwa rodziny przenośnych odtwarzaczy multimedialnych, produkowanych przez firmę Apple. iPod jest obecnie najpopularniejszym odtwarzaczem na świecie, dominującym rynek amerykański, wielokrotnie przewyższając sprzedaż nawet takich firm jak Creative czy Sony. Do tej popularności przyczynił się sklep muzyczny Apple – iTunes Store, a także nietypowe wzornictwo i interfejs, strategia marketingowa i sprzedaży, zwłaszcza na rodzimym rynku.
