It is one of the most widely cultivated tree fruits. The tree is small and deciduous, reaching 5-12 m tall, with a broad, often densely twiggy crown. The leaves are alternately arranged simple ovals 5-12 cm long and 3-6 cm broad on a 2-5 cm petiole with an acute tip, serrated margin and a slightly downy underside. Flowers are produced in spring simultaneous with the budding of the leaves.

For other uses see Apple (disambiguation).The Ariane Passenger PayLoad Experiment (APPLE), was an experimental communication satellite with a C-Band transponder launched by Indian Space Research Organisation satellite on June 19, 1981 by Ariane, a launch vehicle of the European Space Agency (ESA) from Centre Spatial Guyanais near Kourou in French Guiana. It was India's first three-axis stabilised experimental Geostationary communication satellite. On July 16, 1981, the satellite was positioned at 102° E longitude. The 350 kg satellite served as testbed of the Indian telecommunications space relay infrastructure despite the failure of one solar panel to deploy. It was used in several communication experiments including relay of TV programmes and radio networking. It was a cylindrical spacecraft measuring 1.2 meters in diameter and 1.2 meter high. Its payload consisted of two 6/4 GHz transponders connected to a 0.9 meter diameter parabolic antenna. It went out of service on September 19, 1983.

Росси́йская объединённая демократи́ческая па́ртия «Я́блоко» — политическая партия современной России. В 1993—2003 партия была представлена фракцией в Государственной думе России.В Госдуме 1-го созыва фракция «Яблоко» была создана на базе избирательного блока Явлинский — Болдырев — Лукин (исходя из первых букв фамилий «ЯБЛ» и было придумано название партии), который получил 7,86 % голосов. На выборах в Госдуму 2-го созыва «Яблоко» получило 6,89 % голосов. На выборах в Госдуму 3-го созыва — 5,93 % голосов. На выборах 2003 года «Яблоко» завоевало 4,30 % голосов и не получило мест в Госдуме по партийным спискам (но 4 кандидата от партии прошли по одномандатным округам). В 2007 году за «Яблоко» проголосовало 1,59 % избирателей.
