APP (file format)
APP is an abbreviation for application. The filename extension .app means application in Windows (via AppWave), iOS, Symbian OS, SkyOS, GNUstep and Mac OS X. On the latter two systems, a .app file is actually a folder containing binaries and supporting files.. On Windows, AppWave from Embarcadero supplies the support to run .app Windows binaries.

Eine App (von der engl. Kurzform für Application) ist im Allgemeinen jede Form von Anwendungsprogrammen. Im Speziellen sind damit jedoch meist Anwendungen für moderne Smartphones gemeint, die über einen meist in das Betriebssystem integrierten Onlineshop bezogen und direkt auf dem Smartphone installiert werden können.

Plik wykonywalny
Plik wykonywalny – plik, który może być uruchomiony bezpośrednio w środowisku systemu operacyjnego.
Najczęściej zawiera binarną reprezentację instrukcji konkretnego typu procesora. Oprócz tego znajdują się w nim zwykle wywołania systemowe, dlatego pliki wykonywalne zazwyczaj są specyficzne nie tylko dla danego procesora, ale też dla danego systemu operacyjnego. Nie dotyczy to sytuacji, kiedy zawierają formę pośrednią, która do uruchomienia wymaga interpretera lub maszyny wirtualnej – takie pliki mogą być zwykle uruchamiane na różnych systemach.
